Yoga: How it's been helping me

I'm the first person to pled scepticism when it comes to fitness. I'm not fit at the moment by any means and I honestly haven't really been properly fit since I was a competitive swimmer in my preteens. That's a bit sad to say the least because there once was a day when I loved sports especially swimming. That is not my current status but I'd like it to be.

New hobby that's paying off:

A couple of weeks ago I started doing some morning Yoga classes on YouTube. I had no idea how I would go or if I'd enjoy it but I'm pleased to say I really am! I've been making it part of our daily routine. I get up, eat breakfast, give baby boy his milk, have a shower and then yoga for 15-20 mins. Or basically as long as I can get through before Mr wriggles gets upset or needs a cuddle. I'm finding so much pleasure in the simple practice of breathing and movement. The bonus for me is I'm losing weight! I figure if I can go through what I've been through and come out stronger and healthier that will be an absolute win for not just me but also my lil family.


Just breathe:

I've heard that if you do something for 21 days then it becomes a habit. I'm up to about 14 days now with a couple of breaks in between so I'm feeling hopeful that I can keep it up! My favourite part is the connecting of your breathe and the mindfulness aspect. It really does help set the tone for your day and I honestly feel like I'm being a calmer Mum for our little man.

What do I do?

I just put on this lady.

She's very calming and easy to follow and if I can't keep up or am struggling then the best part is you can just pause her and re do later or repeat the part you are struggling with.


She has so many videos and a range of skill levels. I like to do the morning routine ones because it's my morning routine- figures! I would like to try some of her other ones at some stage though.

Amazing babies and why sleeping through the night is not everything.

Today after getting a pretty good sleep for the first time in months I looked down at my sweet boy all covered in mushy weetbix and half chewed pieces of watermelon and I thought Woah! How crazy is this? I made you! You are half me and half the person who I love the most in this world but hang on… now you are the person who I love the most in this world. Reusable nappies: Saving the world one little bum at a time

When I found out I was having our little boy I was excited about the prospect of using reusable nappies instead of disposables. I've seen them being used in centres I've worked at and I was hopeful in doing my little bit for the environment. With all the media coverage at the moment around plastic and the damage it's doing (and this past month being plastic free July) I got motivated to try and go 100 percent reusable.
